2022.01.17 19:51 jdpm1991 Underrated Ghost Face lines when he's on the phone (MAJOR SPOILERS FOR SCREAM 5)

We all talk about our favorite Ghost Face lines on the phone, but what are some underrated lines from the character?
Mine are when Roman on the phone uses Maureen's voice to scare her out of hiding
"You know your mother's voice when you hear it, NOW TURN ON THE NEWS!"
Another line I love is "When your friends with Sidney you die" imo I think that should be the tagline for the franchise.

2022.01.17 19:51 Romulus_1994 My thoughts after replaying the trilogy for the first time in almost a decade

Mass Effect 1 does a perfect job when it comes to establishing it’s universe as believable. I would genuinely rank it up there with early Game Of Thrones. It’s a game that makes everyone who is able to look past all of its game shortcomings have the best gaming experience available. I truly believe that.
Most of the issues are caused by technical limitations, but the only one that really upset me was the paragon renegade system. Why did I receive good boy points for releasing the rachni queen? It basically guarantees that the developers won’t do anything interesting with her in the future. I can go into more detail, but this post will become too long.
2 and 3 on the other hand I enjoyed more than ever. The gameplay is smooth, the graphics & music are just beautiful and I want to kiss the person who insisted on putting more dialogue with your comrades between main missions. I feel like a hypocrite because usually I despise when a franchise is streamlined to appeal to more people, but ME2 and 3 it just worked. Mainly because of the supporting cast. As you can tell I love the writing so I am biased.
The reapers might just be the most underrated villains in gaming history. I can’t name a franchise that successfully established a threat better than Mass Effect. I know that a lot of people hate the ending, but I can appreciate the facts that a lot people died and there were no easy solutions. The galaxy were scared, confused and desperate. It’s far from perfect, but it had the balls to be complex when most other modern franchises seem determined to not tock the boat(the same for modern movies as well..)

2022.01.17 19:51 EmeraldMan25 Sooooo, has anyone looked into how the Tribe of Ancients from Super Paper Mario sound eerily similar to the Ancients from the Kirby games?

This might sound silly, but the Ancients seen in the Kirby universe sound REALLY similar to the Ancients we find in Super Paper Mario.
Here's some traits that both Ancients share:
- Can alter reality to their wishes (Kind of, the Ancients of SPM need the Chaos Heart to do that).
- Are interested in both Science and Magic and use it to create artifacts of great power
- Study and have a good understanding of the multiverse

On top of that, I would like to point out that Pure Hearts are a bit odd for Mario to be collecting. Hearts have never really been that symbolic in the Mario series, they've always been symbolic in the Kirby universe though. It's a kinda weak point that you should definitely take with a grain of salt, but it does make a good transition to talking about the Jamba Heart.
In Kirby Star Allies we're introduced to the Jamba Heart, it's broken up into multiple pieces and scattered across Kirby's world, mirroring the way the Purity Heart was broken up, and that's not mentioning that the broken up pieces of the Jamba Heart look similar to what a broken up Chaos Heart would look like, and the fact that they can both be absorbed by individuals, albeit the Jamba Heart pieces more or less possessing its carrier, something the Pure Hearts do not do.
That's not all, apparently, the Jamba Heart was sealed away by 4 heroes of legend, and when set free, has the power to summon a void capable of destroying all worlds (of course the description of a void differing between the two).
So what am I implying here? That the Ancients of SPM ARE the Ancients of the Kirby games? Not exactly. It's certainly plausible, which is exciting, but there are a few holes. For now, all I'll say is that maybe the dimension of Flipside/Flopside mirrors Kirby's universe in some way, just, y'know, with Mario instead of Kirby. I'm not sure how important it might be, but it certainly is fascinating to think about.
Anyway, that's my thoughts. I know the last paragraph may sound, well, theory-y, but I'm genuinely curious whether this has been explored or not before. I looked it up and only found one forum thread on GameFAQs asking whether the Ancients of Kirby were inspired by Super Paper Mario and only making surface level comparisons. I'm excited about the implications it could have if everything checks out. Thanks for reading.

2022.01.17 19:51 TytonidaeDraco Do you think that [Below Zero spoilers]

The sea monkies could evolve to have their own advanced civilization with the leftover scrap lying around? Given their high intelligence, maybe after observing Robin and the other Alterra workers they can learn to utilize the tech left behind and work towards becoming a whole new intelligent race on 4546B.
Now I'm imagining a game that takes place post-BZ that focuses on the sea monkies and their path towards civilization, going from primarily aquatic to semi-aquatic, and altering Alterra's tech to their liking. The goal? Simply advancing and perhaps going into space one day for interstellar travel.

2022.01.17 19:51 HoldenCoughfield I think I really figured part of it out, stay tuned for a detailed post

I’m getting this out early because it may deserve a pre-post. I come from a Neuro background and was able to self-investigate via some things I learned during my degree.
As a hint, I think this is largely chollinergic. Specficially related to the alpha and beta subunits of acetylcholine receptors. For those curious on a preview, look up the alpha 3, 4, and 7 subunits and their association with GABA. I really do think this is it. As soon as graduate school lightens up, I will compile some literature in a post and how I discovered the hypothesis through blood tests I requested, scans, my experience, and subsequent literature.

2022.01.17 19:51 Profvgvs [QUESTION] Advice needed - faulty guitar electronics

Hi everyone! I was hoping some of you knowledgeable people here could help me or at least point me in a direction with a problem I've had with my guitar rig for too long.

TL;DR: possible issue with guitar circuitry. Symptom: intermittent tone loss in highs Config: H/H, passive, x1 vol pot, x1 tone pot, x1 switch - pickups. Have tried: visual inspection of control cavity, cleaned & bent into shape parts of pickup switch and input jack. Can reproduce symptom at will: No. Good to know: Experienced player, average experience & no formal education in electronics.

After a long inspection of amps, pedals, patch cables e.t.c. I think I've managed to pinpoint the problem's location to somewhere in the circuitry of the guitar, specs:

Configuration: H/H, passive. x2 pots, 1 volume, 1 tone and a pickup switch.

Symptom: The good old "tone suck" phenomenon. It's intermittent and it's mostly affecting the highs and high mids, leaving a really weird, broken sound.

I've tried to reproduce it on MANY occasions without success, and the only thing I believe I've observed are some tendencies to occur when I interact with the pickup switch or volume pot. I don't use the tone pot (always maxed) so when it's touched it's unintentional, however I'm by no means ruling it out as a possible culprit. Therefore, currently suspecting the switch or pots.

Things I have tried so far include cleaning and bending parts of the pickup switch and input jack to adquate positions, also visually inspected the control cavity for any problem that my inexperienced eyes could recognize but the inspection has been inconclusive. Considering my issue is affecting tone and not volume/causing complete silence, am I an idiot to believe I could rule out shorting and grounds? Searching online, many results seem to address inadequate or no volume in relation to shorting ground issues but no mention of my issue as of yet. Are there any known Reddit/other forum threads touching my problem? Or more interestingly - does anyone here recognize this problem personally?

I've been inspecting, replacing components, and googling (over a 100 bookmarks on guitaamp/pedal diagnostics) myself to depravity after coming down to this guitar being the probable issue. Ultimately, not having found a solution, the impact this issue has had on loss of playing/recording time has come to negatively impact me all the more severely with time - so please, I'm humbly requesting any advice or clues you could spare. Despite the lack of pictures, wiring diagrams, sound examples and such, I'd be grateful for any help.

If it's any use mentioning, I have a soldering station and a multimeter. (no continuity beep-function).

Sorry for long post, also possible grammatical errors, this is not my native tongue. Thanks in advance.

2022.01.17 19:51 This_Is_Samer if I found the first Dune book underwhelming, will the subsequent books change my mind?

Hi everyone, DUNE has been on my TBR for a long time and I ended up listening to a full cast audio of the first book just before the movie came out. I totally understand the footprint it left on Sci fi and how many series have been impacted by it. But I found the first book to be disappointing from a plot, characters and even world building point of view. It felt too simplistic and formulaic. I am sure when it came out, it was groundbreaking. But after being exposed to modern fantasy and Sci fi, which have taken many elements from Dune, I found the first Dune book to be underwhelming. Do the following books become more complex? Are there are plot twists? Does the world building become more intriguing? I read that the Orange Bible is kind of a combination of Christianity and Islam but I didn't see any religious lore in the first book. So, per your experience, if one didn't like the first book, is it worth it to continue with the series?

2022.01.17 19:51 PhDfromClownSchool Essential oils as a gift I can't use in my nebulizer

I was gifted a set of essential oils that are actually grapeseed oil with some essential oil. I don't think I can use this in my nebulizer, as they're too thick. I don't know how to test the concentration of essential to carrier oil, so I'm not sure if I can add them into anything, or what I can use them for at all. Any advice is appreciated.
